Wallet connection issues on iPhone (Safari)

Wallet Connection Issues on iPhone (Safari)

Why is this happening?

On iPhone Safari, connecting your wallet (like MetaMask) requires opening the wallet app several times.

Safari asks for permission each time with a pop-up:

👉 “Open this page in MetaMask?”

What should I do?

Always tap “Open”.

If you tap “Cancel”, Safari may block the connection — and nothing will happen after that.

I clicked “Cancel” and now it’s stuck 😕

This is a known issue.

To fix it:

  • Close the Safari tab
  • Open a new one
  • Try again and always tap “Open”

Why do I see an “Invalid address” error?

This message is misleading.

It usually means Safari blocked the connection — not that anything is wrong.

Why does nothing happen when I click “Connect” or “Buy”?

Safari probably blocked the wallet for this tab.

Start again in a new tab — it usually fixes it.

Do I need ETH to complete a transaction?

On mobile (especially iOS), yes — in some cases.

Some wallets (like MetaMask mobile) don’t support certain advanced transaction types (EIP-5792).

This means:

  • Gas sponsorship (paymaster) may not work
  • You may need ETH to pay gas fees

👉 On desktop, it can work without ETH because browser extensions support these features.

What’s the easiest way to avoid all this?

  • Don’t cancel pop-ups
  • Or use a smoother solution (embedded wallet / in-app wallet)

Quick tip ✅

If nothing works:

👉 Close the tab and try again — it’s usually enough.
